Welcome to the New York State Video page.
Watch these videos and be inspired by ordinary people doing extraordinary things.
In Rochester we meet Gerry Buckley, born deaf, who graduated from the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) and then went back to teach at the college.
We also meet Barbara Hollander who, though later in life, continues to keep her days full by volunteering in her community.
Moving to Syracuse, we meet Brenda Mims, once reliant on the city and food services of food pantries to feed herself, now works full time at the Samaritan Center helping feed those in need.
Julie Gilbert is a college graduate and member of the Jesuit Volunteer Corps who is taking a year of her life to live simply, and honorably, by learning how to respect and help those living in abject poverty.
Daniel Wade also works at the Samaritan Center as Operations Director. After a career in the food service industry, he's spent the last eleven years passionately helping those in need.
In Albany we meet Sadie Maxham, a young woman who has devoted her time to create a better life for young children and teens suffering from mental illness.
Moving on to New York City we meet three Common Cents Fellows, Natalie Zuckerman, Anna Iuppa, and Melissa Rozon who spend their time teaching the gifts of philanthropy to students in New York and around the country.
The Journey concludes its trip to New York by interviewing Teddy Gross, the Founder and Executive Director of Common Cents. Taking a request from his daughter they started Common Cents to collect money for those in need and teach philanthropy to young students across New York State and across the country.
Watch all of these incredible videos and be inspired by what these amazing people are doing.
