The Journeys first stop was with Linda Barton, Program Director - Lights On In Lander, an after school program for children K-12 in Lander Wyoming. With a passion for helping children and a belief that from 3pm to 6pm when parents who work cannot pick up their children or afford day care is the time when most children need help the most, Linda Barton runs Lights On to give children who otherwise would not get the opportunity, a chance to get help with their homework, experience a field trip adventures or just a simple hug. Building community, moving Wyoming forward, one child at a time.
Wyoming continues with Marirose Morris of the Wyoming Arts Counsel. Watch this video of a woman who, as a Native American herself, uses her history and family background as a passionate force to help others of all communities and especially those in the Native American community. Using the arts she works with diverse populations and communities to help them bring art to undeserved populations.
Next, we meet Ray Fleming Dinneen. Along with her Mother, the two psychologists started Climb Wyoming, a program to help single Mothers become productive successful members of the workforce. Now spread across the state and looking beyond it's borders, watch this video and learn how these people started making a difference in their community, have spread out to their state, and are looking to move the whole country forward.
